Cover work for 11th December 2013TASK
Cover work for 10th December 2013Today I am not in school I am afraid but you are going to look at the work of Roland Barthes and how he tries to explain how stories work and what makes them successful. Enigma Codes and Action Codes are the most important to be able to us and talk about as these form the basis of many narratives. You will also understand the difference between story and plot and be able to use the terms story, plot and narrative with increasing confidence and accuracy. In the task ignore the reference to the Wanted clip and just use the films that we have previously studied - you may use the notes that you have on them from earlier theorists. Remember to look at your Home Learning to ensure that you understand the theory that we have covered.
Cover Work For Wednesday 4th December 2013* Create a revision tool which covers the three narrative theories that we have covered. Today we looked at applying the narrative theories that we have ben studying to a narrative by using a tension graph to plot the major events and the effect that it has on an audience. Remember that spikes in the graph can often be attributed to key moments in Todorov's Theory of Equilibrium such as the inciting incident or the resolution. Others may coincide with key aspects of Binary Oppositions or Propp's theory of Character Functions. HOME LEARNING
