Controlled assessment 4 of 4That's it...time is up. You should now have completed all 4 of your magazine pages in readiness for your peer assessment lesson. This will take place next lesson and will involve you forming small focus groups to discuss the work that you have completed so far and the areas that you need to improve. It is a very good opportunity to look at what others have done, ask questions, consider how your products measure up and gain ideas and insight from your peers. You need to come with an open mind and the ability to take and make constructive criticism.

Controlled Assessment 3 of 4We are now moving towards the end of these controlled assessment lessons and for many of you things are taking shape well. Many of you still need to take some photographs in order to use them in your page layouts. This now needs to be a meter of urgency as you will need to use them in your final controlled assessment lesson on Wednesday. It would be a shame to get to the peer assessment lesson and not be able to have a finished set of pages to get feedback on. This will not only effect your production mark but also give you less to write about in your evaluation.
Controlled Assessment 2 of 4The second controlled assessment lesson was used well by the majority of you. The pages should be taking shape now as you are halfway through your allotted time. Many of the pages now have text and the layout has been tightened up, however several of you still need photographs and time is running short. Make sure that you have your photographs next lesson so that you can begin placing them in your new pages.
Controlled Assessment 1 of 4This was your first controlled assessment out of a block of four. Many of you made a great start and have made incredible progress in producing your magazine pages. If you keep up this pace then you will produce something to be proud of over the course of the next few lessons. Some of you still have much work to do and will need all of the time that you have to finish of your pages to a high standard.
Remember that you need to arrange for your photographs to be taken - or to bring in appropriate photographs - for your magazine pages. Make sure that they link to your photo planning so that you can get marks for the planning of them. The last lesson on drafting and an opportunity for some peer assessment to be done. Many of you took great care in leaving effective feedback for others and acting on the feedback that was left for you. This will stand you in very good stead for the upcoming controlled assessment lessons when you will be putting your magazine pages together. Make sure that you use this time wisely as you only have 7 hours to complete your pages.
Remember that you need to arrange to take your photographs - or bring them in if you are taking them outside of school. They should link to the planning task that you have already completed if you want to access the maximum marks for research and planning.
Today we started the drafting process for the new magazine pages. You all made a very good start and I was impressed by some of the ideas that you came up with to improve the cover that I had knocked up. You even pushed it further than I did by including devices like rhetorical questions and writing in the imperative. We have two more lessons to get the text finalised - including redrafting and improving your initial ideas. The better the content is the more marks you will get. Controlled assessments are a very good way of gauging how capable a teaching group is and you all response incredibly well. I would like to take this opportunity to express once again the fact that your data from last year does not do you justice and that all of you should be aiming higher. You are going to be pushed this year much harder because I know you are capable of more than your data suggests. Let's keep up the hard work so that we can get as many marks as possible towards our final grade through these coursework tasks. Thanks once again to those individuals who gave up their time to improve some of their work on Tuesday after school - it had a huge impact and added about 50 marks onto their work. If you would like a similar impact then make sure that you come along next week.
