What a busy lesson! Quizlet done, which many of you should be very pleased with. Make sure that you continue to spend the time revising the terminology needed for section A of the examination. We also continued making notes on the episode of HIGNFY - including the two new audience theories - and even managed to get an examination response written towards the end of the lesson. I will mark these responses and get feedback to you as soon as possible. All of the content has now b sen delivered so you should be looking forward to 5-6 weeks of examination practise - YAY!
Today we watched a further episode of HIGNFY and analysed it for audience pleasures. This was SERIES 47 EPISODE 4. I also introduced you to the exam resources page and the useful stuff that was contained on it including note taking sheets, clips and videos that can be used for revision. The button can be found on the right hand side of this blog page at the top. We also looked at two noes audience theories - namely Aristotle's Superiority Theory (where we laugh at people because we feel better than they are) and Immanuel Kant's Incongruity Theory (where laughter is caused by events/behaviour not fitting in with how we expect things to be). Hopefully you have gathered enough evidence from the episode to use these in a response that is going to be written net lesson.
Today we looked into how new technologies have affected TV broadcasting and how this has had an impact on programmes such as Room 101. It is important that you understand that these developments present problems for broadcasters as well as opportunities and that you understand how they try to take advantage of new technology to guarantee their market share. The presentation used is included above.
Today we applied some of the scheduling strategies that we have been studying to the scheduling of one of our case study programmes. The Padlet that you have created will be very useful for you because it will provide you with all of the information that you will need to write a response to one of the Section B questions. Make sure that you start revising this information.
This lesson we began to explore the world of TV scheduling, why it is important and we covered some of the strategies that channels use in order to get us to watch their channels for longer. You should have started a Padlet gathering this information together and over next lesson we will continue to explore these scheduling techniques.
Today we continued to look at the ideal structure to use when taking notes for the Media Studies examination. We continued to apply the same structure (PEEG) to the remaining examination questions and explored how we could use the notes that we have made in order to complete all three questions.
