In today's lesson we discussed how our view of the world was shaped and how it leads to us having shared views of masculinity and femininity. The toys we play with, the jobs we do and even how we look are all effected by representations that we encounter.
How do you think representations and views of masculinity and femininity might change in 100 years? Comment below on the factors that could change the way that we see men and women.

Before the suffragettes campaign for women votes and women right, women did everything of there stereotype. They cleaned they look after the children and cook. The male would be the bread winner going out to get money to put food on the table. But in our society thing have changed but there is still the stereotype of both gender. Women could now get a very masculine jobs such as soldiers in war, pollution like Turisa May or car mechanic. But so male can do feminine jobs such Secretary or cleaner or teacher. So our views have change quite a lot but still a long way to go before both gender can get away from a stereotype.

The main person in our royal family is the Queen who is obiously a woman, but some may argue that being a ruler of a country should be a man as the job tackles a lot of difficult areas. If the Queen has managed a mans jobs then the world is still changing so there could be a more even future for women in 100 years.

It is plausible theory that 100 years from now, the stereotypes that are associated with masculinity and femininity could be completely different from what they are now. Ever since the creation of man, the male and female genders took different roles. Men went out hunting for food while women prepared the food for the man. This then continues from the Anglo-Saxons to the Victorians. The impact of the first and second world war meant that as most men were fighting, the women were beginning to take on the more 'manly' jobs, such as farming and working in factories. But there was one thing that women were not permitted to do and this was to vote in elections. As a consequence of this and along with women new found powers, a protest group was formed by women in aim of gaining rights equal to men. This outburst shaped how we see men and women today. We see women work and playing sports, even in the Olympics and we see men cooking as a chef as well as hobbies such as dance. It is possible that 100 years from now, we see a more equal relationship between men and women.

I think that our views on masculinity and feminity are bound to change within the next 100 years. In recent times, we have already seen this begining to take shape. Very much like gypsies, many people believe that women belong to stay at home, to cook, clean and look after the children. However, women in the 21st century are proving that they can be just as good and if not better than men to this present day. For the first time in 100 years, women were proven as having a larger IQ than men. This just goes to show that women have the knowledge to take on jobs which might be percieved as a typical mans job. The way we view women might change if one key figure leads the way. Although Thelma isn't as such a key figure, she is trying to change the way that travellers view women and she is helping them into jobs. This happened in the space of not even a few years, so who knows what could happen in 100.

I think our views on masculinity and femininity will change in 100 years. They have changed significantly over the last 100 or so years. Women are streotyped to stay at home, clean the house, cook food and look after children. On the other hand the men went out to work. This stereotype still exists to this day, however we now see men taking on jobs such as being a dancer, and vice versa with women taking on masculine roles like being a soldier. It is bound to change, I think the male and female steroypes will always exist, but things between men and women will be more equal in future years.

in the past it was known for the man to go to work and pay for the house bills whilst the woman did all the house work and took care of the child/children. since then woman have been able to do a lot more jobs and the cycle has changed a lot, which shows that in a 100 years time there could be a massive change of view on masculinity and femininity. also showing that men and woman can become equal and have the same opinions of each over.
