You should all be working on your coursework still and getting blogs up to date. Remember that I will be doing a review this weekend so it is a really good opportunity to find out exactly where you are in terms of marks and targets.
Here is the presentation that I used in class - I do not know if the video will work within it - you can always leave a comment and let me know! You should be busy also writing answers to the 3 areas that we have studied for Question 1a i.e. Genre, Representations and Narrative. Remember that the question is "How has one of your productions used ___________ to create effect?". This question is worth 25 marks so should take around 25 minutes to write. You can submit the responses by email or print them out and hand them to me. I would like these in next week please - by Wednesday at the latest!

JOC Productions have a cast! It has taken a while but I am sure that it will be worth it in the long run to work with professionals and trained actors rather than just a bunch of friends messing about. You need to focus now on the test shots of your time warp effect.
Prime Sight has been in script development for a while and the script is looking good. There are some great ideas and the whole thing should be a visual treat. You need to look into filters and effects that you can use to make your footage look more like the Black Mesa film that is your inspiration. You also need to do some test shots for your crash zoom and your fight scene - both vital elements of your film. Joe is making some good progress with his innovative new video game. Do not forget that you need to be doing the basic tasks such as storyboarding and scripting the adverts. Just because they are shorter than a film do not think that it can be done in any less detail. Well done all. You should be planning for some very busy days during half term and I hope that you make some progress actually committing some of your ideas to film. Some good work being done by most. These few weeks before filming are vital to the success of any film project. You must make sure that your script is finalised and that you have clear plans in place. Storyboards and photo storyboards will help you plan and visualise the final product. Schedules will give you a clear idea of what you need to get done during each day of filming. There is a lot of hard work to go but we are only 2 weeks from half term and to hit the deadline of Christmas you will need to have all of your footage for after half term. Finally - well done Joe for some great work towards your project. Working on your own you have really picked up the pace and have produced some very well focused and useful work - keep it up. I think that all production companies are making progress and that was shown today. Do not get disheartened when final arrangements like locations, casting and schedules seem to constantly fall apart - this is normal and happens on most film shoots. You just need to keep going and try to find creative ways around problems. Treehouse productions have done a good job in this respect. Remember that half term would be an ideal time to shoot as you will have more time to play with during the days. If you are going to film then you should be getting the plans together with a sense of urgency. Post everything to your blogs so that it can get you marks. Use the task list as a guide to the least that you need to have on your blog.
Some progress being made today but there is not enough work taking place outside of lessons. JOC - or Treehouse Productions - you really need to get consent for your locations and start firming up a schedule. Tom - your priorities are casting, locations and getting your schedule sorted. Reece and Joe now need to get research onto the blogs so that you can get feedback and start planning your productions. This is crunch time guys and weeks are drifting by presently. Remember that Christmas is your deadline!
Personalised task lists are now available for download from the blog bar on the right hand side. These are in .pdf format and show you the kinds of tasks that need to be completed and placed on production blogs. As there are people working independently it is important that you start moving through these tasks with some sense of urgency. In order to have enough time to prepare for the examination in the summer it is vital that we hit the Christmas deadline to complete this work. This is going to be a very hard-working term but it will be worth it in the end. Remember that additional Mac time is available Monday 4+5, Wednesdays after school and Thursdays 1+2. I should be seeing all of you there ALL of the time!
It has been a very difficult start and we appreciate your patience while we get everything set up for you. We should have a lesson to get together on Monday P5 - assuming that is on everyones timetable! The Mac room C6 is available period 4 also if you would like this as extra Mac time and then we will use the lesson to go over what needs to be done, groups, targets, timetables, tasks etc. This will be a really hard year for those of you re-sitting the AS exam especially but I am confident that we are all committed enough to make it work. Any issues then email me or comment below.
Welcome back - I trust you have had a good break and are ready for another hard working year. I hope that you have done some work on at least pre-production over the summer - If not then you will have an even tougher time completing your films before the Christmas deadline. Holidays are over - let the hard work begin!
