Some good work today although all of you need to work on your general knowledge, especially about British culture such as Shakespeare. The real thing to consider from todays lesson is how a text is a product of the society that makes it. Through the choices that have been made in order to create the texts the concerns of the time are reflected in the text i.e. people are having a tough time at the moment so there are lots of texts reflecting this negative outlook like The Walking Dead, Revolution, Oblivion etc. Just as these reflect the concerns of now so the two historical texts above would reflect the society that made them. Now texts can also be read - through the encoding and decoding process - differently at different points on time; a modern audience may not see the dame things that the maker of a text intended 100 years after the fact.
Some very good work today at understanding key terms of audience. You have now covered all of the subjects that can be asked of question 1b and need to start producing the essay responses so that I can mark them for improvements and you can start learning them in preparation for the examination. We will be moving onto the information needed for 1a this week and next week so that we can focus on the requirements of section B after the Easter break. Make sure that final products find their way onto your blogs and I will do a marking update as soon as I can. It is important that you make the most out of these last few weeks so that you can hit your target grade or even better. I have included the Powerpoint that I used today below so that you can look at the starter sentence and the structure for a response.
