As promised the AS Exam Resources page is up and running. As with the A2 responses; the more you can get to me the more advice and feedback I can give you. Make sure that you are responding to the feedback and getting better all of the time. It would be good to get a couple of responses a week so that I know you are well prepared for the exam.

We could not avoid multiculturalism any longer! An interesting debate - it does not matter what your own perspective is on the segregation and integration debate as long as you can recognise both possibilities and representations and use them when exploring the ideas of identity and audience theory. I have attached the presentation that I used in today's lesson so that you can look at some of the news clippings that discussed the debate.
Good work today on structuring the G325 responses. You are starting to understand the theory more and apply it to the texts we have already looked at. You should now be gathering ideas of your own from the media that you consume to bring to the debate - there will be many things to gather over the coming week due to Margaret Thatcher's funeral on wednesday. You should also possibly look at coverage surrounding national sports teams which often shows up national stereotypes and representations of Britishness. Next lesson we will look at some of the audience theory so that you can fill this gap in and then you will be able to write a full response.
0According to the Collins English Dictionary, identity means: ‘State of being a specific person or thing: individuality or personality . . . ‘ Above are the quotes that we used in today's lesson. We will continue looking at the question and how to go about structuring a response next lesson in preparation for you to write your first Section B response. I am still waiting for many of you to turn in some Section A responses for marking. This needs to happen as soon as possible so that I can get feedback to you so that you can improve your performance.
You found out today why the second part of the G325 examination is so tough. Some real degree level social theory really separates the wheat from the chaff! I think that you coped very well today an hopefully can apply some of what you have learnt to the texts that we have seen already and will come to watch over the coming weeks. I have attached the presentation that was used today at the bottom of this entry so that you can download it and use it as part of your revision. We will see, when we look at the exam criteria, how important these theories are and how you should be using them in the examination. Next lesson we will look at a question and how we might go about answering it using the texts that we have seen so far and some modern examples that you will bring to the lesson.
I know that some of you will be looking to complete your evaluations over the coming week and Cat has even been in contact saying that you cannot find the evaluations questions. So, to make it easy for you I have the questions here...
Remember that you need to discuss the development of all of your products, not just the main task. There is a very good example of a high quality Evaluation here - it might give you some good ideas like conducting questionnaires to gauge audience response for instance. |
