On Wednesday we began looking at Representation Theory and how it shapes our view of the world. We looked at ideas of masculinity and femininity with an activity where we discussed which toys and jobs are considered to be more suitable for males or females. It used to be widely believed that dolls are for girls and toy cars are for boys, men were mechanics and women were cleaners.
Why have our views of masculinity and femininity changed in recent years, what has affected how we think of men and women? Leave a comment below with your thoughts.

the difference between male and females have really changed in the last 10 years as women have had more rights and have got more masculine jobs such as football it is known as a mens sport however there is girls who play football for a living but mens football is a lot more popular due to the population stats in the football matches today on the other side of the arguement women have been getting more rights to do whatever you want as a job but you can not play in the same division as the other genders but womens rights have increased to most things.

Our views of masculinity and femininity have changed over the past years as men and woemen will do jobs that are normally asociated with their gender, but also the other gender, such as hairdressers, buisness, and court cases. People are realising that one job isn't just suited to one gender.

Our views on stereotypes and what are stereotypes have changed because of how we are told things should be like or what we usually see or are told as normal, we assign men to stereotypes of more masculine and strength-centered jobs where as on the other hand, we assign women stereotypes such as teaching, nurses, midwifes, ect because they are more about thinking and don't require as much physical strength. While women can be/are strong, we usually see them as weaker than men and so assign such stereotypes.
