With your analysis nearing completion you are will be moving on to creating your CD artwork soon. You need to consider how you are going to represent your artist on your cover. This is the audience's first impression of the artist and they will make assumptions about the style of music and content based on this. If Ms Spears here had used this image on the cover of her Debut album, would she have had the success she has over her career so far? Doubtful. What style of music does this editied (very quickly edited!) version suggest? What evidence is there here for that?
These are the kind of questions that you must consider as you begin deciding on styles and options for your CD artwork.
To create a thoroughly thoughtful representation you will need to draw upon all of your knowledge and understanding of representation that you have been displaying throughout your analysis. All decisions need to be accounted for; colour schemes considered using Semiology, choise of clothing and setting is extremely important, what facial expression should your artist be performing. Think analytically about your artwork, demonstrate your understanding in a well thought out piece of coursework.
Over half term you will be set some pre-production tasks to get you ready to create the product when we come back. Keep your eyes on your blog!
Some good progress made this week on your music video analysis. Just to remind you that I have set a review date of Tuesday 16th of October. This will be where I can grade your work so far and set any targets to ensure you are all working towards your target grades. Remember, this analysis presentation is worth 50% of your mark for this piece of coursework, so it needs to be full of detail and accurate media language. Over the weekend take some time to look at your second choice videos, make any further notes that will be of use to you in class and bring them in.
Some good thoughts going into your analysis of music videos. Most people coping well with the concept of stereotypes, and quite a few making some excellent points about stereotypes.
Now that we are all moving onto your analysis presentation we need to add flesh to the bones, really creating the detail needed to maximise your marks for this task. Don't forget, this is worth 50% of your marks for this piece of coursework.
