Representations task
Create a resource to teach the historical perspectives on your given area of representations. You can create the resource in any way but you must be able to share it with the rest of the class and present it to them next week.
The resource must include: * An historical perspective on how representations have changed over time. i.e. timeline or run down through the decades like we did for gender. * A run down of the example stereotypes and counter types that are available for your given area and the key ways that they are represented. * An example exam question with accompanying clip along with a set of notes outlining the kinds of things that could be written about in an exam response to that clip.

Flipped Learning - Need to look at before next lesson and bring to the lesson
Some good work today starting to look at representations and the first section of the Media Studies exam that you will be sitting in June. I have shared the slides from the lesson as a part of this blog. Please take note of the home learning due after the half term break.
HOME LEARNING in preparation for Friday 31st January 2014
HOME LEARNING Today you got an insight into what you will be requested to do in your examination - namely compare the British film industry (typified by Sightseers) with the Hollywood film industry (as typified by Star Trek: Into Darkness). It is the understanding that is the important part of the analysis. You need to be able to answer two questions with everything that we cover; why is it that way? and what are the pros and cons to that? As long as you can connect the knowledge that you have with the examples then you should have little problem doing this. Fridays will become our examination days with Wednesday being left for project work, editing and hopefully working on evaluations soon.
Well done on completing your mock examination. The results will be ready for results day where you will receive a breakdown of results which will include your exam performance and your coursework mark based on the research and planning sections of your blogs. I will be marking both on Sunday evening so you have until then to make sure that all work on your blog is up to date if you hope to improve on the marks that I gave to you 2 weeks ago. On friday we will be looking at more exam subject matter and beginning to examine how we could use our two case studies so far to answer the style of questions that you will be facing in June.
