Cover work for Monday 22nd June 2015We have recently been working on the language of film. We have looked at camera shots, angles and how these are edited together - including the transitions. Today's lesson is designed to consolidate that knowledge.
TASK 1 - Design a revision tool to help remember the key points about camera shots, angles, types of editing and transitions. This could take the form of flashcards, a quiz or a poster. Make it as interactive as possible and think about what will help you remember this information for your upcoming end of year examination. TASK 2 - Consider how you would use shot types and editing to communicate the following short film idea. Write the scene out as a script detailing what shots would be used, what transitions would move you from shot to shot. Consider what moments you are using continuity editing and what moments you are using montage editing and choose shots and transitions accordingly. ¤Scene opens on a summer’s day with a man walking in a field. He plants a tree. ¤Over the years the man looks after the tree and it grows as he grows older. ¤The man has a son and brings him to the tree and they build a tree house. They play a game of King Arthur – escaping into an imaginary world. ¤The game finishes abruptly when the man falls out of the tree. ¤The son helps his father up and they walk into the sunset.

HOME LEARNING Cover work for Tuesday 2nd June 2015Tasks 1 - Write notes on PROPP'S CHARACTER FUNCTIONS THEORY as outlined in the presentation below. 2 - Using the document which is downloadable apply the theory to a film of your choice that you think fits the theory very well. 3 - Using another copy of the downloadable table apply the theory to either SPY vs. GUY or TEMPO that we have watched. As these films have less characters you may find some functions being carried out by the same character or may even have some missing. Consider carefully the reasons why you are assigning functions to certain characters.
Cover Work Monday 1st June 20151 - Watch the short film Spy vs. Guy. Youtube video included below. 2 - Using the narrative theories that we have studied (Strauss, Todorov and Freytag - the notes for which should be in your book and also in previous lessons on the blog) answer the question below. Remember to follow a Point - Evidence- Explain structure.
Question: "Spy Vs. Guy has an effective narrative." Do you agree with this statement? Support your answer by referring to appropriate narrative theories. Complete your response on a Pages document. It needs to be completed by the end of the lesson. HOME LEARNING Use your notes, resources from the internet including the Coleshill Media Site, to revisit the stereotypes of masculinity or femininity.
You are to produce a poster outlining either the stereotypes of femininity:
This is in preparation for going back to look at and improve their analysis assignments later on this week. The poster should include definitions of the stereotypes, examples from a range of media and an analysis of these examples. |
