Today you started to look at the music industry and began to explore how music companies and labels worked within the industry. You were asked to create a resource which explored who the biggest record labels are in the world, who they represent and how much money they make. You should have used images, graphs and diagrams to show what you have discovered. You could make it in any form that you like - either online (using Prezi, Padlet or Popplet) or offline (using Keynote, Pages etc). Ultimately the resource should lead you to an answer for the following question: * Who is the most powerful company in UK music today? Submit your answer in the poll below. HOME LEARNING

I have learned by watching this video that music companies/labels earn and keep a lot of the money which is made by the music artist; for things such as recording songs. Record labels are keeping a lot of the money earned by the artist which is why they are worth a lot of money and earn millions each year. There is always something that the Record Labels can fall back on, e.g: Reserves. On this video the artist only earned around 1/5 of the total due to most of this money going to the Record Label. You can produce all sorts of music easily on laptops and other devices, and posting to social media sites, which means getting noticed easily. Merchandise usually means more money for the artist, but live performances/tours are usually split between labels/venues and artists. Comments are closed.
