Cover work for 27th November 2013Additional Controlled AssessmentUnfortunately I am not in the lesson today so we will need to move things around slightly and have another controlled assessment session. This will act as an additional session and will not effect the three hours that we will do following the two lessons of peer and self-assessment that we will conduct later this week and early next week. Make the most of the time Some key areas that you could focus on are below.
* Have you made as many points as possible comparative in nature i.e. referring to both music videos and using a comparative phrase? * Does every slide start off with a strong topic sentence that uses media language such as stereotype, counter type, represented etc? * Have you covered the full range of codes in your analysis for each point i.e. personal, performance, narrative, technical and visual? * Have you completed your points for both femininity and masculinity? Controlled Assessment 5 of 5Today was the last controlled assessment for a while - in fact the rat of this eek will be spent outside of controlled assent reflecting on progress so far and using per assessment and teacher assessment to come up with a detailed and focused action plan to make sure that the last 3 hours of controlled assessment time have maximum impact.
Controlled Assessment 4 of 5Another good lesson of progress. You need to make sure that you are responding to the targets set for you in order to improve your marks. At this point you should be getting most of your points completed and if you have not got all of your points in place then this really needs to be the focus for the hour coming up early next week. We will be taking a break after next lesson to do some assessment work and explore a personal plan of action so that you can make the most of your last 3 hours of controlled assessment.
Controlled Assessment 3 of 5Some good progress made today. Everyone has their work marked now and has detailed feedback to start acting upon. I know that we have been working on this project for a while now but the end is in sight and we must make sure that we are making the most of all of the time on offer. Make sure that you are responding to your feedback and making the changes that will get you additional marks.
Cover for 18th November 2013Controlled assessment 2 of 5Today I am not in the lesson but you all know what you should be doing. Make sure that you have put your bag at the front of the room and that your phones are switched off and in the tray at the front of the room. When you have your media passport make sue that you are reading any feedback and targets that have been left for you and that you are responding accordingly. If you have not already received a mark and some detailed feedback afterwards then your work will be marked by the lesson on Wednesday so you will have plenty of time to respond to this feedback. I have included that instruction slide for the lesson to give you the information that you might need.
Controlled Assessment 1 of 5Now is the time to put everything that you have discovered about the mark scheme and your work into practice. This is the section of controlled assessment lessons that will have a real impact on your final marks. Make sure that you are responding to feedback and following targets that have been set for you so that you can reach your potential.
It was time to take a break from the controlled assessment lessons today and start to have a more detailed look at the mark scheme. We looked carefully at what each level of assessment means and what each of the skill areas entails. We will take another lesson off to put some of what we have learnt into practice by applying it to some work and then using it to reflect on our own work. This should give us a clear indication of the quality of work so far and tell you in detail what needs to be done throughout the second half of the project.
Controlled assessment 6 of 6we have reached the halfway stage in your controlled assessment time. As a result you should have between 5 and 10 slides exploring either masculinity or femininity. I know that some of you are past this stage and I also know that a few of you are not quite there yet because of missed time. Do not fret too much as there is still time to catch up and if you need the time that you have missed in order to reach your target grade to better then we can give you this time back. Next lesson we will look in more detail at the mark scheme and how your work is assessed. I will also mark your work so that you will have an idea of the standard that you are working at now and what to do to improve for the second half of the presentation.
