Controlled Assessment 3 of 6A good controlled assessment session which saw everyone making progress. There will be further chances to get individual feedback during the next controlled assessment slot. It is encouraging to see people developing clear arguments and supporting their ideas with detailed analysis using comparative phrases and appropriate terminology. Many of you have made a very good start and just need to continue to make strong analytical points. Remember that I included todays lesson in the class points and there is a chance to get extra points by responding to the question that was posted on this blog a few lessons ago. Currently there are a number of people tied for the top so it might be a good opportunity to steal the Heroes of the Week prize and get chocolate when we return after half term.
Controlled Assessment 2 of 6Another very good controlled assessment session which saw everyone making progress. It is good to see the amount of technical language that people are using and showing a real understanding of the issues surrounding representations. Make sure that your points are comparing the evidence as much as possible and always include a comment on how different audiences might respond to the codes that you are analysing. We will take a break from controlled assessments next lesson so that you can refresh your memories about the language and points that need to be made - and to allow you all to score more points! Talking of more points, can you respond to this post outlining how you feel that representations of men or women have changed over the past 50 years? I have provided some images to help you out.
Controlled Assessment 1 of 6There was some very good progress being made today. Everyone started developing their ideas further. Various people began to create comparative arguments rather than analysing the music videos separately and this will make a big difference when it comes to the mark scheme. Let's keep up the pace and the level of detail. Well done.
Congratulations to Danah and Jessica for being this weeks Heroes of the Week - their prize will be waiting for them on Wednesday. Today we looked carefully at how we were using media language and comparative phrases to make sure that our presentations were comparative and detailed so that they can score as many marks as possible. All of you should have identified opportunities where you could be more comparative and use more media language to express your points. You will have an opportunity to put this work into action in the upcoming controlled assessment lessons. We will look at some of these issues further next lesson.
Controlled Assessment 2 of 2Another good lesson in controlled assessment conditions that saw you all progressing very well. If you continue to work like this and put the detail in that many of you are then you will be sure to produce some very pleasing results by the end of this project. Next lesson we will be looking at some of the things that you may have overlooked when putting together your ideas so make sure you arrive to lesson switched on and ready to think about codes, representations, comparative phrases and topic sentences.
Controlled Assessment 1 of 2
A lively lesson today. Remember that points are being awarded all of the time - both positive and negative. Make sure that you are getting the recognition that you deserve. Your report for last week is above - a very good show with 90% positive points awarded. Today's lesson was not quite as positive but you still have time this week to make up for that. Congratulations to Jacob, Daisy, Henry and Liam for being the first Heroes Of The Week. You will get your reward next lesson. I hope that looking at some of the work from last year's media students helped make what you have to produce clear. Remember that comparison is vital as are examples, clear points, media language, detailed analysis, and audience comments. I am looking forward to seeing what you can do.
We had some great discussions today about the changes that Madonna has undergone and some of the reasons behind it. You used the terminology well and had some insightful points. You then worked very effectively on the notes for your controlled assessment presentation. This is the class I know. Make sure that you keep gathering the points and we will see who makes it onto the Heroes and Villains list for this week! |
